Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to Craven County Criminal History. Visiting a page, reading its content, or using a search tool signals acceptance of all terms below. A person who does not agree should discontinue use.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no affiliation with a local, North Carolina, or federal government agency. Neither it nor its advertising partners offers a service intended for credit, employment, tenant, insurance, or another decision governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The resource identifies criminal-record channels in Craven County, North Carolina. It is neither a private investigation firm nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

Craven County Criminal History is a private reference site with no government connection. It does not store official criminal records, obtain records for users, perform official checks, or submit court documents.

Its content identifies the Craven County Sheriff's Office, North Carolina courts, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry, and other custodians. North Carolina's Public Records Law, Chapter 132, governs agency access, while G.S. 132-1.4 distinguishes public arrest facts from restricted investigation material. Some pages also display search tools run by outside businesses.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the site, a visitor agrees not to:

  • Violate a federal, state, or local law
  • Stalk, threaten, intimidate, or harass another person
  • Use site content for hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
  • Attempt unauthorized access to a system or account
  • Deploy bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools
  • Interfere with performance or another visitor's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information found here or through a linked tool may not be used to stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or unlawfully discriminate against anyone. Misuse can also violate criminal law. The North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry specifically warns that threats, stalking, intimidation, harassment, or other criminal acts based on registry information may be prosecuted. Registry access is for public safety awareness, never vigilantism or prohibited discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Craven County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. It does not create a consumer report, credit report, or screening product. Its advertising partners are not presented as providers for FCRA-regulated decisions. Site or linked-tool information must not be used to:

  • Make an employment decision
  • Evaluate a tenant or housing application
  • Set credit or insurance eligibility or terms
  • Decide eligibility for a license, permit, or public benefit
  • Carry out any other FCRA-regulated purpose

Anyone who requires a check for a regulated purpose must use a legally authorized North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation channel or a screening provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

Site content is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how a Craven County charge, conviction, warrant, or North Carolina expunction law applies to a specific person. Consult a lawyer licensed in North Carolina for legal advice.

6. No Warranties

All services and content are provided "as is" without a guarantee that:

  • Any item is complete, accurate, or current
  • Access will always be continuous
  • The pages contain no defect, bug, or security weakness
  • An outside search result is complete or correctly matched

Criminal records can change after charges are filed, amended, dismissed, sealed, or expunged. Updates may therefore lag. Nothing published here is an official statement by a court, sheriff, police department, or other public agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links can lead to government offices, court portals, legal resources, or commercial search services. Following a link opens a service outside our control. We are not responsible for its content, availability, price, or data practices. Review the destination's terms before using it.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code are owned by Craven County Criminal History or the applicable content partner. They may not be copied, altered, distributed, or used to create another work without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damages arising from site use, linked services, unavailable access, or reliance on information presented through either.

10. Indemnification

A visitor agrees to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, demands, and proceedings caused by that visitor's use of the site or violation of these terms, including related legal costs.

11. Governing Law

North Carolina law governs these terms. Any proceeding arising from use of the site must be brought in a court located in North Carolina.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised at any time. A revision takes effect when the new version is posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

We may suspend or end access at any time, with or without advance notice.

14. Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms remain in effect. The affected provision will be narrowed only as necessary to make it enforceable.
